Sooner Dairy Lunch has been around for years and is the quintessential burger stand. The food and business itself is about as American as you can get. The 1950's style drive-in is located in Norman, Oklahoma, Its definitely not a drive-thru. There's no window you pull up to and a sack pops out. Its the old style where you pull your car under a tin awning or canopy. They cook to order real burgers, shakes and fries and the portions are huge. For the amount and quality of food you get, its very inexpensive.
Old Town Gyros
Old Town Gyros is also located in Norman, Oklahoma. Its the fastest and best place to get a gyro sandwich for easily the best price in Oklahoma on gyros. The place is on the corner of main and porter street. You will not only be in and out of there in minutes, but leave with most of your cash and the best gyros in the area. The food at Old Town Gyros is as authentic as you can get in town.
Rudy's Country Store & Bar-BQ
Rudy's Country Store is a great place to eat lunch and is located right off the highway that most people use to get to the OU games. They have some of the best smoked brisket and ribs for very reasonable prices. The place has a authentic country motif with lots of rustic charm. On OU football game days I believe they still have tons of ice cold beer and cokes in huge horse troughs loaded with ice. It doesn't get any more country than that! The service is excellent and fast. You can sit and eat lunch or get it to go.
Del Rancho
Del Rancho is a steak sandwich chain. But the Del Rancho in Norman, Oklahoma has been around for so long it seems like a mom and pop drive-up lunch spot. They make and serve the best steak sandwich for the price in the area, in my opinion. The steak sandwiches they serve should come with a zip code for as large as they are! They make the best onion rings in the area as well. The Del Rancho Is right off on Lyndsey street as you come off Interstate 35, if you are in for the game.
