Tropical Limeade
If you live in the south or southwest part of the country or just anywhere it is hot in the summer, like I do, then you know that icy cold drinks are a must. From iced teas to those slushies you buy at the convenience stores you will find something cold to drink.
Some of the fast food places or drive-ins make limeades and cherry limeades, and sometimes you can find a good tasting one. Here is one that you can make at home, that's got a lot more in it than just some 7-up, ice and a little lime juice in it.
To make this tropical lime drink you will need :
* 1 quart of ginger ale
* 2 cups of freshly squeezed lime juice
* 1 cup of orange juice
* 2 cups of pineapple juice
* 1 small jar of maraschino cherries
* lots of ice
* blender
* 1 hammock ( optional )
First you will need to squeeze some limes to get your two cups of lime juice. I usually buy a bag of limes at the supermarket and they're fairly inexpensive here.
In a blender you need to pour in your lime juice, pineapple juice, and maraschino cherries and set on mix.
In a large pitcher pour in your ginger ale. After a couple of minutes of mixing the lime juice, pineapple juice, and maraschino cherries in your blender, just pour that into the pitcher with the ginger ale and with a large spoon stir it.
After you have mixed that well together, take and put the pitcher with the juices in it, in the freezer of your refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
Once the 20 minutes are up, put some crushed ice into your blender and chop it good. What I will do is chop the ice pretty good then drain out any water, If any, and then add more ice and blend it just a little more.
You can prepare some glasses for this by taking some glass tumblers and wet them pretty good on the outside and inside of the glass under cold water and placing them in the freezer overnight or for a few hours if you like.
Next you will fill your glass half full of the chopped ice from your blender and then fill up the rest of the glass with your pitcher of juices that has sit in the freezer for 20 minutes.
You can make several of these and return the majority of them back into your freezer for later. If they freeze its okay just set them in the main refrigerator for awhile.
