Cheese Omelet Recipe

Basic Cheese Omelet Recipe
This is a basic cheese omelet that I like to make. I hope you enjoy making and eating this simple dish. I have made this a slight variations of this basic cheese omelet for years.

You will need these ingredients:

* 6 large eggs
* 4 tablespoons of milk
* handful of shredded cheddar or American cheese.
( I like the bags you get that have 3 cheeses in them pre shredded)
* Oil or butter
* salt, black pepper and/or crushed red pepper

In a large bowl I will beat the eggs and add the milk, salt, and pepper. I usually use a dash or two of crushed red pepper. I like the color and the taste that crushed red pepper brings to a dish. Its the same crushed red pepper that usually comes with a pizza.

I heat the skillet at medium to medium high with a little bit of oil or butter added. I usually use a few tablespoons of oil but often just depends on which I have handy. If I have real butter I will sometimes use a tab or two of this with a little oil to increase the flavor of the cheese omelet.

I pour the well beaten omelet mixture into the frying pan. As it starts to cook and set up, I will take the skillet by the handle and roll the entire pan to work the uncooked portions towards the edges so it will cook as well,while using a spatula to keep the edges of the omelet from sticking to the frying pan or skillet.

Once the omelet has started to set up and looks somewhat cooked I will then add a good handful of shredded cheddar or shredded american cheese on the top of the cooking omelet.

I mostly use a three cheese bag of shredded cheeses I buy at the supermarket. It has cheddar, american and then I believe you can choose a variety of the third cheese, Some have swiss some have other cheeses.

Once the cheese has started to melt into the omelet somewhat, I then fold or flip the omelet in half and let that cook for a few minutes.

Then I serve it on a large plate. I like to have salsa or picante sauce with mine. You can also add a dollop of sour cream.

This is a very basic recipe for a cheese omelet. If you have eggs and just about any kind of cheese at all, you can easily make this omelet.

You can work off of this basic omelet recipe to make varieties of omelets. You can even create your own using ingredients that you do have in the refrigerator. I like to experiment a lot with all sorts of different ingredients.

If you have a favorite variation of this or a different ingredient you like in your cheese omelet, please leave a comment and explain what you do or like, and I will more than likely try it out!
