Spicy Nuts Snack Recipe
These are great for snacks but also great for adorning or adding to the tops of salads as well.
The ingredients that you will need for this recipe are:
* 1 1/2 cups of cashews
* 1/12 cups of pecans
* 1/4 cup of peanuts
* 1/8 cup sunflower seeds
* 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper
* 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tablespoon of canola oil
The first thing that I do is start by preheating the oven to about 300 degrees. In a semi large plastic bowl I will then mix the cashew, pecans, peanuts and sunflower seeds.
I then mix in the red pepper and Worcestershire sauce and the tablespoon of canola oil. I like lea perrins Worcestershire sauce, if I have it.
I will then take out a large flat cookie sheet that I have. I place the nuts on the cookie sheet but I don't spread them out too much, I kind of keep them bunched up all together.
I normally will bake them for about fifteen minutes or so, on around 300 degrees.
About halfway into the cooking I will pull out the cookie sheet, with the nuts on it and flip them over some with a spatula and put them back in the oven, so that they cook evenly.
After they have finished baking, I will take them out of the oven and but them on a platter or even in a bowl if its just me around to eat them.
You can add more salt and/or black pepper or pinches of garlic salt according to your personal taste.
This makes a really great snack, but also can be used to put on tops of different types of salads you may enjoy. Sometimes I make them even spicier by adding a dash or two of Louisiana hot sauce to the the mix.
I hope that you try and enjoy this recipe as much as I enjoy it.
I also hope that some of you have enjoyed my Southwestern style recipes I have been doing. They are usually kind of hot and spicy, so I recommend a large glass of ice cold sweet tea with each and every recipe!
Buen Provecho!
